Hiking in San Lorenzo
When making your booking, you'll be able to opt for a 3 or 7-hour route. In both cases, we'll meet up at your chosen time on Calle Juan Carlos Dávalos.
3-Hour Route
We'll start by exploring the colonial town of San Lorenzo and head to its outskirts, reaching the ravine of the same name. From here, the trail follows the San Lorenzo River.
During the hike, we’ll ascend slopes to different viewpoints with panoramic views of Salta. You will also explore the yungas of San Lorenzo and observe endemic trees such as cockspur coral trees, walnut trees, myrtles, and alders.
At the highest point, 5,900 feet (1,800 metres) above sea level, you will see the Lerma Valley to the south and the Andean foothills to the north and west.
We will then return to the starting point after 3 hours of walking.
Schedule: every day at 10 am and 3 pm.
7-Hour Route
This option is a high-difficulty route covering 12 miles (19 kilometres) and reaching 7,870 feet (2,400 metres) above sea level.
The route begins with an ascent through the San Lorenzo ravine to the Eastern Cordillera, where you will see trees typical of the Selva Montana such as cockspur coral trees, walnut trees, laurels, and cedars.
Expect to see lush ferns, diverse epiphytes, and climbing plants, along with fantastic views of Lerma Valley and the Eastern Cordillera.
Schedule: every day at 10 am.
