Escape from the daily grind by embarking on a hiking adventure in San Lorenzo. Experience stunning vistas of Salta, the Andean foothills, and Lerma Valley as you journey through this picturesque landscape.

Hiking in San Lorenzo

Upon booking your experience, you can choose between routes lasting either 3 or 7 hours. Regardless of your selection, our meeting point will be at Calle Juan Carlos Dávalos at the scheduled time.

3-Hour Route

We will commence our exploration by traversing the charming colonial village of San Lorenzo before we head to the outskirts. Here, we will discover the namesake ravine, from which we'll embark on our trek along the trails that accompany the San Lorenzo River.

Following the river's path, we'll ascend various inclines, leading us to numerous viewing points in the vicinity. Prepare to be captivated by spectacular panoramic views of Salta, as the provincial capital is located just a short distance away.

Our excursion will also afford us the opportunity to delve into a remarkable ecosystem, specifically the famed yungas of San Lorenzo. This Andean forest isn’t the only botanical wonder we’ll encounter; we will also observe endemic trees, including cockspur coral trees, walnuts, myrtles, and alders.

Upon reaching the pinnacle of our journey at an elevation of 5,900 feet (1,800 meters), you will be rewarded with stunning vistas. To the south, the entirety of the Lerma Valley sprawls out before you, while turning north and west reveals the magnificent Andean foothills.

We will then take a different path that leads us back to our original location, concluding our 3-hour trek with friendly farewells.

Schedule: available daily at 10 am and 3 pm.

7-Hour Route

This route presents a high-difficulty challenge, covering a distance of 12 miles (19 kilometers) while ascending to an impressive 7,870 feet (2,400 meters) above sea level.

Our journey will begin with a climb through the trails of the San Lorenzo ravine, ultimately leading us to the Eastern Cordillera. Throughout our ascent, we will encounter a variety of trees endemic to the Selva Montana, such as cockspur coral trees, walnuts, laurels, and cedars.

We will be surrounded by thriving ferns alongside an array of epiphytes and climbing plants, typical of this unique biome. Additionally, our hike will offer sweeping views of both Lerma Valley and the Eastern Cordillera.
