Hiking in San Lorenzo

When making your booking, you'll be able to opt for a 3 or 7-hour route. In both cases, we'll meet up at your chosen time on Calle Juan Carlos Dávalos.

3-Hour Route

We will begin by crossing the colonial town of San Lorenzo and heading to its outskirts. There, we will find the ravine of the same name and continue along trails beside the San Lorenzo River. This will take us to various viewpoints with panoramic views of Salta, located only a few miles away.

During the tour, we will explore the unique biome of the yungas of San Lorenzo, observing endemic trees such as cockspur coral trees, walnut trees, myrtles, and alders. The highest point of this route is 5,900 feet (1,800 metres) above sea level, offering views of the Lerma Valley and the Andean foothills.

We will then take a different path back to the starting point after 3 hours of walking.

Schedule: every day at 10 am and 3 pm.

7-Hour Route

This is a high-difficulty route covering a distance of 12 miles (19 kilometres) and reaching an altitude of 7,870 feet (2,400 metres). We will ascend through the trails of the San Lorenzo ravine to the Eastern Cordillera, viewing various trees typical of the Selva Montana such as cockspur coral trees, walnut trees, laurels, and cedars.

We will also see lush ferns and epiphytes. Along the route, we will enjoy fantastic views of the Lerma Valley and the Eastern Cordillera.

Schedule: every day at 10 am.
