On this walking route along the Sendero del Capitán, we will explore the history of San Luis Potosí and visit notable sites, including the Cerro de San Pedro, the origin of the city's foundation.
Sendero del Capitán Hiking Tour
At 6:30 am, pickup will be at your hotel in San Luis Potosí, followed by transportation to the starting point of the Sendero del Capitán. The hiking experience will focus on the history of the city.
The hike will begin at the Cerro de San Pedro, formerly a significant gold and silver mining center before becoming a city. The trail traverses various landscapes, including meadows, forests, and semi-desert areas.
The route will lead through Monte Caldera to Armadillo de los Infante, notable for being the first location in San Luis Potosí with a printing press. Participants will explore cobblestone streets and historic 17th-century buildings.
During the tour, the story of Captain Miguel Caldera, a significant figure in regional colonization, will be shared. A visit to a cave will reveal an impressive underground environment.
After covering 19 kilometers (11 miles), we will arrive at a ranch for a barbecue-style meal. Following the meal, participants will be returned to their hotel in San Luis Potosí, concluding the activity at 6:30 pm.
