Day Trip to Villa Pehuenia
Pick up is at 8 am from your hotel in downtown San Martin de los Andes to begin the tour. The route includes passing through the town of Aluminé and following the river for nearly 100 kilometers (62 miles). You will enter the Pehuenia Circuit, a scenic route that connects Lakes Pulmarí, Ñorquinco, Moquehue, and Aluminé.
The drive continues to the edge of the Batea Mahuida volcano, situated at almost 2000 meters (6,560 feet) above sea level. Here, a short hike around the crater leads to a lagoon with crystalline waters. From the summit, views of Moquehue and Aluminé lakes and the Chilean volcanoes Icalma, Sollipulli, and Villarrica are available.
After descending from the volcano, you will travel through La Angostura, connecting Aluminé and Moquehue lakes, before arriving in Villa Pehuenia. The visit includes exploring its peninsulas and bays, known for their breathtaking views against the backdrop of the Patagonian Andes. The village, founded in the early 90s, features architecture that harmonizes with the surrounding araucaria forests.
Return to San Martín de los Andes is expected around 8 pm.
