South face hike (10 hours)
This route begins with a departure from San Martín de los Andes to Puerto Canoa, on the shores of Lake Huechulafquen. You will embark on a 10-hour trek of medium difficulty to the south face of the Lanín Volcano.
The first part features a forest of coihues and ñires with slight slopes. You will then reach a natural space by the Ruca Leufú stream. North face hike (8 hours)
This challenging 8-hour trek begins in the Turbio River area of Lanin National Park at 1100 metres (3608 feet). You will traverse a lenga forest, spotting various Patagonian birds.
The ascent continues along the north face towards a clearing with views of the volcano. The final ascent leads to the Espina de Pescado (Fishbone) and culminates at the BIM 26 mountain refuge, located at 2,300 metres (7545 feet).
