If you wish to explore the beauty of the Andean landscape, this hiking experience around the Rosales lagoons is an ideal choice. Here, you will immerse yourself in the stunning Patagonian scenery while discovering the diverse wildlife and plant life it has to offer.
Description
At the arranged time, we will pick you up from your accommodation in San Martín de los Andes and head towards the Rosales lagoon, situated approximately 30 minutes away.
Upon arrival at the lagoon's edge, we will embark on a leisurely hike around the Rosales lagoons. This route, which presents a moderate level of difficulty, spans about 3 kilometers (1.86 miles) through a verdant Patagonian forest.
As we traverse the shores of the lagoons, surrounded by the enchanting forest landscapes, you will have the chance to observe a variety of bird species. Look out for chucaos, huet-huets, rayaditos, and red hawks. Additionally, other native Patagonian birds such as the southern lapwing, ashy-headed goose, royal ashy-headed goose, Patagonian finch, and great gebe may also make an appearance.
As we continue our hike around a mallín, a characteristic marshy grassland of Patagonia, we will learn about the different plant species that inhabit this unique ecosystem.
Finally, we will begin our return journey to the starting point of the trail. From there, we will head back to our vehicle, which will take us back to San Martín de los Andes. We anticipate returning to the hotels after spending approximately 4 hours together.
