Tour Details

At the scheduled time, the group will meet on Calle Relox and head to the Sanctuary of Atonilco. It will take approximately 20 minutes to reach this World Heritage Site.

Upon arrival, you will explore the temple's beauty and history, dating back to the 18th century, including its connections to the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem and Mexican Independence. You will also view the frescos in the popular Mexican baroque style. This temple is often referred to as the American Sistine Chapel.

After the guided tour of about 45 minutes, you will have free time in the center of the village of Atotonilco to sample local cuisine. Following this, the group will return to the starting point, arriving about 2 hours after the tour begins.
