2016 marked the Bicentennial celebrations of Argentina's Independence, declared in Tucumán. Explore this essential historical event with our Independence Tour of San Miguel de Tucumán.

Argentina Independence Tour

The tour begins at 8:30 AM with a hotel pickup in Tucumán. First, we visit the Miguel Lillo Natural Science Museum (entrance fee not included) to explore the nature and geography of Tucumán, including various dinosaur fossils and information about native Argentine fauna now residing elsewhere.

Next, we visit the Casa Belgraniana, the residence of General Manuel Belgrano. Here, we will discuss the battle of Tucumán, a significant event in Argentina's War of Independence that led to essential political changes.

Following this, we will travel to Ingenio San Pablo to learn about sugar production, then proceed to Villa Nougués and San Javier Hill. At the summit, you will see the Cristo Bendicente sculpture and enjoy panoramic views of San Miguel de Tucumán.

The tour includes a visit to the Yerba Buena residential area, where we will taste local empanadas with a glass of wine. We will also pass by 9 July Park and the Casa Obispo Colombres Sugar Industry Museum.

The final stop is at the Plaza de la Independencia, where we will walk around and appreciate the Government House, the Cathedral, and the Casa Histórica, where Argentine Independence was proclaimed on July 9, 1816. The tour concludes at 3:30 PM with a return to your hotel.

The tour includes pickup and drop-off at hotels in central San Miguel de Tucumán. For those staying outside this area, pickup will be at the Ente de Tucumán Turismo, 484 Avenida 24 de Septiembre.
