Argentina Independence Tour

2016 marked the Bicentennial celebrations of Argentina's Independence in Tucumán. Learn about this pivotal event in the country's history on our Independence Tour of San Miguel de Tucumán.

Argentina Independence Tour

The tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel at 8:30 AM. We will visit the Miguel Lillo Natural Science Museum (entrance fee not included) to explore the geography of Tucumán and see dinosaur fossils from the region. We will also study native Argentine animals that now inhabit other parts of the world.

Next, we will visit Casa Belgraniana, the residence of General Manuel Belgrano, to learn about the battle of Tucumán—a significant event in the War of Independence and its political implications.

Following this, we will travel to Ingenio San Pablo to learn about its sugar-producing heritage, then to Villa Nougués and San Javier Hill, featuring the Cristo Bendicente sculpture and panoramic views of San Miguel de Tucumán.

The tour proceeds through the Yerba Buena residential area, with a stop to taste local empanadas and wine. On our return, we will take a panoramic tour of 9 July Park and the Casa Obispo Colombres Sugar Industry Museum.

We will conclude our tour at Plaza de la Independencia, where a walking tour will showcase the Government House, the Cathedral, and the Casa Histórica, the site of Argentina's Independence proclamation on July 9, 1816. The tour ends at 3:30 PM, returning you to your hotel.

The tour includes pick-up and drop-off at hotels in central San Miguel de Tucumán. If staying elsewhere, the pick-up location is Ente de Tucumán Turismo, 484 Avenida 24 de Septiembre.
