Argentina Independence Tour

2016 marked the Bicentennial celebrations of Argentina's Independence, declared in Tucumán. Join us for the Independence Tour of San Miguel de Tucumán to explore this critical moment in the nation's history.

Argentina Independence Tour

The tour starts with a pick-up at 8:30 AM from your hotel in Tucumán. We will visit the Miguel Lillo Natural Science Museum (entrance fee not included) to discover the nature and geography of Tucumán, including dinosaur fossils and native animals that have relocated globally.

Next, we will visit Casa Belgraniana, the former residence of General Manuel Belgrano, where participants will learn about the battle of Tucumán, a pivotal event in Argentina's War of Independence that led to significant political changes.

Afterward, we will travel to Ingenio San Pablo to explore its sugar-producing tradition, and then visit Villa Nougués and San Javier Hill. At the summit, you will see the Cristo Bendicente statue and enjoy panoramic views of San Miguel de Tucumán.

The tour continues through the Yerba Buena residential area, where we will stop for a tasting of local empanadas with a glass of wine. On our return, we will take a panoramic tour of Yerba Buena and the 9 July Park along with the Casa Obispo Colombres Sugar Industry Museum.

The tour concludes at the Plaza de la Independencia with a walk around the surrounding monuments, including the Government House, Cathedral, and the Casa Histórica, where Independence was proclaimed on July 9, 1816, finishing around 3:30 PM back at your hotel.
