Day Trip to Santiago del Estero

In this excursion to Santiago del Estero, we'll explore the Mother of Cities, one of the main cities in the northwest of Argentina.

Tour Highlights

We will pick you up at your hotel in Tucumán at the designated time and head south to Santiago del Estero. This city is among the oldest in northwestern Argentina and significant in the former Viceroyalty of La Plata.

Upon arrival, we will start our tour of Santiago del Estero, visiting key locations such as the Plaza de la Libertad (Liberty Square), where you can see the cathedral of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and the Cultural Center of the Bicentennial, the former Cabildo.

Next, we will visit the church of Santo Domingo, which hosts a Holy Shroud, an important relic of northwestern Argentina. After learning about its history, we will proceed to a restaurant for lunch if you wish to purchase a meal.

After lunch, we will travel to the outskirts of Santiago del Estero to visit the patio of Indio Froilán, a luthier who will demonstrate how he fabricates musical instruments, particularly the bombo legüero.

After this visit, we will return, stopping briefly at Termas de Río Hondo to explore its waterfront, the Central Dam, and the shopping center.

The excursion will conclude at your hotel in Tucumán, with a total duration of 10 hours.
