In this excursion to Santiago del Estero, we'll explore the city known as the Mother of Cities, significant in northwest Argentina.
Tour Highlights
We will pick you up at your hotel in Tucumán and travel to Santiago del Estero, one of the oldest cities in northwestern Argentina, formerly part of the Viceroyalty of La Plata.
Upon arrival, the tour will commence, passing by key locations such as Plaza de la Libertad (Liberty Square), where we will see the cathedral of Nuestra Señora del Carmen and the Cultural Center of the Bicentennial, which was the former Cabildo.
Next, we will visit the church of Santo Domingo, home to a prominent relic, the Holy Shroud. After learning its history, we will stop at a restaurant for lunch (optional).
Following lunch, we will head to the outskirts to visit the renowned patio of Indio Froilán, where a luthier will demonstrate the making of musical instruments, including the bombo legüero (bass drum).
After our visit, we will begin our return journey, with a brief stop in Termas de Río Hondo to explore its waterfront, the Central Dam, and the shopping center.
The excursion concludes at your hotel in Tucumán after approximately 10 hours.
