Explore the mythical ruins of a great Mesoamerican civilization on this day trip to the Cantona archaeological site and the Alchichica Lagoon from Cholula.

Day Trip to Cantona & Alchichica Lagoon

After picking you up at 9 am from your hotel in Cholula, we'll take you to the Cantona archaeological site. Following approximately a two-hour drive, we'll arrive at our first destination of this private day trip.

We will explore what was once a great fortified city, touring the narrow streets, squares, buildings, and numerous ball game courts. At Cantona, there were over 300 obsidian workshops, where local artisans crafted various products and controlled trade routes in the central highlands.

After the tour of Cantona ruins, we will head to Tepeyahualco at 1 pm, allowing time for lunch. Subsequently, we will travel to one of Mexico's significant alkaline lakes.

In just half an hour, we'll reach the Alchichica Lagoon, notable for its unique natural structures known as stromatolites. We will discuss its volcanic origins and learn about local legends associated with the site.

Finally, we will return to Cholula, arriving at your hotel by 5 pm.
