Cerro Toco Volcano Hike

Description

This hiking tour of Cerro Toco begins with a hotel pickup in San Pedro de Atacama. The drive to Cerro Toco Volcano takes approximately one hour, with a stop at a shop for water and snacks.

Before the hike, participants will acclimatise with a 1-kilometre (0.6-mile) walk at an altitude of 3100 metres (10,170 feet). The hike to the base of Cerro Toco, located at approximately 5100 metres (16,732 feet) above sea level, will take around 2 hours. Along the way, there will be breaks to rest, hydrate, and enjoy panoramic views of the Andean landscape.

After reaching the summit and returning to the base, a 45-minute rest period will follow. The return journey to San Pedro de Atacama will conclude the tour, lasting a total of 5 hours.
