Piedras Rojas, Atacama Salt Flats & Altiplano Lakes Trip
Following hotel pickup, the tour begins in the Atacama desert with a breakfast stop. The first stop is Toconao, an indigenous village with traditional adobe buildings, where visitors learn about the history and traditions of its people. Notable sites include the Church of San Lucas and its bell tower from the 18th century.
Weather permitting, we will visit Chaxa Lagoon to view flamingos and hike the Piedras Rojas trail for an hour, admiring the salt flat and highland lakes of Miscanti and Miñiques. Wildlife sightings may include vicuñas, foxes, and flamingos.
Lunch will be provided en route or at a restaurant on the return trip, with options of a main course and drink, or two dishes from the restaurant menu and a drink. Afterward, we will visit Piedras Rojas to see its surreal landscape. The tour concludes with views of the lagoon of the Salar de Aguas Calientes before returning to San Pedro de Atacama, with an estimated return between 12-13 hours later.
