Rainbow Valley Day Trip

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama and head south towards the Cordillera Domeyko mountain range. During the journey, you'll admire desert landscapes and the Andes peaks.

Our first stop will be the archaeological site of Yerbas Buenas, where you'll see ancient rock art from various cultures. Before this, we will enjoy breakfast. We'll walk through the pre-Colombian site and view petroglyphs carved onto the rocks depicting animals, daily life, and constellations.

Next, we'll head to Rainbow Valley, passing through the town of Matancilla. Upon arrival, you'll observe the colourful rocks that give this place its name and the creation of colorful mineral strips. Rainbow Valley also features unusual rock formations shaped by wind erosion over millions of years.

Finally, we'll return to San Pedro de Atacama, concluding the tour after approximately 4.5 to 6 hours.

Pickup Info

This activity includes pickup from hotels within a radius of up to 10 kilometres from the centre of San Pedro de Atacama. We may pick you up from hotels closer (maximum of 2 kilometres) or further away (maximum of 10 kilometres), so specify accommodation in the historic centre. Note that pickups in nearby towns like Ayllus, Solor, Cucuter, and Toconao are not included.
