Rainbow Valley Day Trip

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama and head south towards the foothills of the Cordillera Domeyko. During the journey, you'll see desert landscapes and the peaks of the Andes.

Our first stop will be the archaeological site of Yerbas Buenas, where you'll find a collection of ancient rock art from different cultures. A breakfast will be served before our visit. You will view petroglyphs carved onto the rocks that depict animals, daily life, and constellations.

Next, we'll proceed to Rainbow Valley, passing through the town of Matancilla. You'll observe the colourful rocks and the unique mineral formations that create vibrant strips. Additionally, there are unusual rock formations shaped by wind erosion over millions of years.

Lastly, we will return to San Pedro de Atacama, concluding the tour after approximately 4.5 to 6 hours.

Pickup Info

This activity includes pickup from hotels located within a radius of up to 5 kilometres or 3.1 miles from the centre of San Pedro de Atacama. Depending on availability, pickup may be possible from hotels closer (maximum 2 kilometres or 1.2 miles) or further away (maximum 5 kilometres or 3.1 miles). Specify accommodations located in the historic centre. Note that pickups in nearby towns such as Ayllus, Solor, Cucuter, and Toconao are not included.

If staying in more remote locations, you must go to an alternative meeting point, which will be specified on your booking voucher.
