Salt Mountains Day Trip

At the agreed time, we'll meet at unit 2, 429B Tocopilla Street in San Pedro de Atacama. From there, we'll travel to one of the most spectacular places in Moon Valley: The Salt Mountains (“Cordillera de la Sal” in Spanish).

When we get there, we'll admire the geological wonder of the strikingly colourful Salt Mountains. You'll see how the wind erosion has left a unique landscape of sand dunes and thousand-year-old salt rivers in its wake.

As we explore this unique place, we'll also see the remains of an ancient means of transport, called the Magic Bus. We'll discuss what this bus means and why it's stranded in one of the driest deserts in the world.

To round off our experience, we'll watch a magical sunset over the Salt Mountains. We'll see how the different hues of the sunset beautifully illuminate the vastness of the desert. In addition, you'll have a snack of dried fruits, biscuits, juices, a bag of crisps and a drink, which will be your choice between beer and pisco sour.

After admiring this breathtaking Andean sunset, we'll return to San Pedro de Atacama. We'll leave you at the small square in the centre of town or at another central point after 4 hours of activity.
