Las Leñas Valley Day Trip

Explore Andean landscapes with this excursion to the Las Leñas Valley, home to one of the largest ski resorts in South America.

Description

We'll pick you up from your hotel in San Rafael at 8:15 am and head south through the province of Mendoza. First, we'll drive past the Salinas del Diamante and the Los Parlamentos plains.

We'll then reach the El Sosneado neighborhood to learn about the FAU 571 plane crash. The plane, which took off from Montevideo bound for Santiago de Chile, crashed into a glacier, and the 16 survivors had to resort to cannibalism for 72 days to survive.

The journey continues along the Atuel River before we approach the Las Leñas Valley. We'll enjoy the landscape from the Infiernillo viewpoint and visit the Niña Encantada Lagoon, notable for its turquoise waters. A stop at the Las Ánimas well will also be included.

Next, at an altitude of 2,000 metres (6,561 feet), we'll arrive at the Las Leñas Ski Resort. This complex features 29 slopes with 65 kilometres (40 miles) of skiable runs as well as various hotels and restaurants.

Finally, you will return to your hotel in San Rafael, arriving around 7:30 pm.
