Oxapampa & Chontabamba Day Trip

With this day trip to Oxapampa and Chontabamba, you'll learn about the legacy of the Austro-German settlers who arrived in Peru in the 19th century.

Day Trip Details

At the scheduled time, pickup will be from your hotel in San Ramon, heading north to the province of Oxapampa, visiting its main towns.

We will stop at the Mezapata viewpoint to observe the Paucartambo river bridge, the natural border between Junín and Pasco.

Upon arrival in Chontabamba, we will visit the main square and its wooden church, constructed in Austro-German style, discussing the history of the European settlers in the area.

Next, we will explore the Tunqui Cave, featuring a unique landscape of stalactites and stalagmites. This will be followed by a visit to the La Floralp dairy factory to observe the production of milk-derived products, including cheese, butter, and yogurt.

We will then proceed to the town of Oxapampa, where you will have free time for lunch and to experience local cuisine.

After lunch, a guided tour of Oxapampa will take you to iconic sites like the Plaza de Armas, the Colonists' promenade, and the church of Santa Rosa, known for its Austro-German architecture.

Following this cultural experience, we will return to San Ramón, with drop-off at your hotel scheduled between 10 and 11 hours after pickup.
