Oxapampa + Chontabamba Tour
At 8:30 am, we will pick you up from your hotel in San Ramon and travel north to the province of Oxapampa, visiting two main towns.
On the way, we will stop at the Mezapata viewpoint for views of the Paucartambo river canyon, which forms the natural border between Junín and Pasco. We will also visit a sugar mill that has been operational since the 19th century.
Upon arrival in Chontabamba, we will explore its main square and wooden church, designed in Austro-German style, discussing the history of the European settlers in the region.
Next, we will visit the Tunqui Cave, notable for its stalactites and stalagmites, followed by a trip to a dairy factory to see the production of items like cheese, butter, and yoghurt.
In the town of Oxapampa, you will have free time for lunch and to sample local cuisine. Afterward, we will take a guided tour of Oxapampa, covering iconic locations such as the Plaza de Armas, Colonists' promenade, and the church of Santa Rosa, which reflects Austro-German architecture.
Following the exploration of these two cities' heritage, we will return to San Ramón, arriving at your hotel around 7 pm.
