Go on a journey through more than a thousand years of history with this medieval tour of the Sant Benet de Bages Monastery. You'll learn lots of details about this monastic complex through an audio guide in English and a series of screenings.
Description
We'll meet you in the reception of the Sant Benet de Bages Monastery to give you your audio guide to start your tour. Your route will take you through over a thousand years of history beginning with the origins of this monastery dedicated to Saint Benedict.
Built around 950, the monastery was abandoned by the monks and fell into ruin until it was restored in the 20th century. It was revived thanks to the painter Ramon Casas and the architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch.
Accompanied by your audio guide, you'll tour the monks' cells, the cellar, and the impressive cloister, where all the columns feature original capitals.
You'll also visit the church of this Benedictine monastery, learning about life in a medieval monastery through audiovisual screenings that explain how the monastery functioned.
After approximately 1 hour 15 minutes, your visit will conclude.
