Tajogaite Volcano Day Trip

Want to learn more about the last eruption in La Palma? On this Tajogaite volcano day trip, we'll visit various viewpoints on an incredible hike around Cumbre Vieja to see this volcanic cone, created in 2021, up close.

Day Trip Details

At the time indicated, we'll pick you up from the meeting point you select and head to the Cumbre Vieja Natural Park. We'll go to Llano del Jable, where we'll start a hiking route to explore the Tajogaite Volcano, the newest on the island of La Palma.

The Tajogaite eruption in September 2021 endangered the island. For months, attention was focused on the volcanic process of Cumbre Vieja, which lasted 85 days. As we explore these lands, we'll reflect on the events and their consequences.

The route spans a total of 5 kilometres (3 miles) there and back, lasting 3 hours, taking us to the best viewpoints to see the crater of Tajogaite. This provides an opportunity for photos.

We will then take you by bus to the port of Tazacorte, observing the newly built roads connecting towns isolated by lava. You'll have one hour of free time to have lunch at a local restaurant and to see where the magma reached the sea during the eruption.

Before concluding, we'll visit Tajuya Square and the Tacande viewpoint, offering spectacular views of the new volcano. After 8 hours of activity, we'll drop you off at the starting point.
