Tajogaite Volcano Day Trip

Want to learn more about the last eruption in La Palma? On this Tajogaite volcano day trip, we'll visit various viewpoints on an incredible hike around Cumbre Vieja to see this volcanic cone, created in 2021, up close.

Itinerary

At the indicated time, we will pick you up from your selected meeting point and proceed to the Cumbre Vieja Natural Park. We will travel to Llano del Jable to begin a hiking route to explore the Tajogaite Volcano, the newest on La Palma.

The Tajogaite eruption in September 2021 posed a threat to the island, lasting 85 days. During the hike, we will reflect on the eruption's impact on the region.

The route is a total of 5 kilometers (3 miles), taking approximately 3 hours to reach the best viewpoints of the Tajogaite crater for photo opportunities.

Next, we will travel by bus to the port of Tazacorte, passing by newly built roads connecting towns affected by lava. You will have one hour of free time for lunch at a local restaurant and to observe where the magma reached the sea.

Before concluding, we will visit Tajuya Square and the Tacande viewpoint for additional views of the new volcano.

After 8 hours of activities, we will return you to the starting point.
