San Andrés Bunkers Hike
At your chosen time, we'll meet at the ruins of the San Andrés Castle. From here, we'll commence our scenic 5 mile (8 km) hiking route.
The hike begins by walking through the hills of San Andrés. As we ascend, we'll see views of the pier and Las Teresitas beach, known for its golden sand sourced from the Sahara desert.
During the ascent, we will admire the Cercado ravine and observe various plant species such as the tabaibal-cardonal, wild prickly pear cactus, and verode (a native daisy). This arid landscape transitions into a more humid area within the Anaga Rural Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Biosphere Reserve.
We will continue hiking with views of Tenerife's coastline until we reach a World War II bunker. We will explore its tunnels, rooms, and machinegun nests while learning about its history.
After 3 to 4 hours of walking, depending on the group's pace, we will return to the starting point.
