Tenerife Palmetum Ticket

The Palmetum in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is one of the largest botanical gardens in the Canary Islands, showcasing subtropical plants.

What is the Palmetum?

Located south of Santa Cruz de Tenerife's port, the Palmetum spans almost 30 acres (12 hectares) on a former landfill site. It features scenic views of the ocean and a significant collection of flora, particularly palms and plants indigenous to the islands.

What will I find at the Palmetum?

The Palmetum hosts the largest collection of palms in Europe, with over 500 species. It is organized into various biogeographic zones, featuring plants from the Caribbean, Hawaii, Melanesia, Australia, Madagascar, and the Canary Islands. In addition to palms, the garden includes around 2000 different plant species from various tropical and subtropical climates, alongside landscaped areas with streams, lakes, and waterfalls. Its location offers views of the Atlantic Ocean and is home to numerous wild birds, including common moorhens, blue tits, blackbirds, and hoopoes.

The Palmetum de Santa Cruz de Tenerife is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm, with last entry at 5 pm.
