Day Trip to the São Francisco River Mouth

If you're in Maceió, you can't miss the chance to see a unique riverbed on this day trip to the São Francisco River. We'll also visit Piaçabuçu and its dunes.

Day Trip Details

At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Maceió to begin our 2-hour journey to the mouth of the São Francisco River. The journey covers 110 kilometres (68 miles) until our first stop, the municipality of Piaçabuçu, closely linked to the riverbed's culture.

We will visit the Maraná restaurant to sample local delicacies before the main activity. After re-energizing in Piaçabuçu, we'll explore the mouth of the São Francisco River by boarding a boat for a 3-hour journey along Velho Chico to the impressive dunes. This ride offers views of Alagoas on one side and Sergipe on the other, as we are at the border between these states.

During the trip, we will enjoy the scenery, possibly spotting an abandoned lighthouse on an old island. After the boat trip, we will return to Piaçabuçu to board transport back to Maceió. The activity concludes 10 hours after pickup.
