Ciénaga Day Trip
At 8 am, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Santa Marta for a 40-minute drive to Ciénaga. During the journey, we will have a fruit snack.
Upon arrival in Ciénaga, the inspiration for García Márquez's novel One Hundred Years of Solitude, we'll explore the town's history. We will stroll through historic streets and discuss the town's beginnings and its economic boom in the early 20th century due to the growing banana industry.
During our day trip, we'll visit the pavilion, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, and other monuments relevant to García Márquez's literary work.
Next, we'll head to the Cordobita region to visit the volcano of Ciénaga, where you can enjoy the hot springs, learn about their healing properties, and experience a therapeutic mud massage.
Afterwards, we'll return to the minibus for our journey back to Santa Marta, arriving at 2 pm.
