Lost City 4-Day Trekking Tour
Day 1
The tour begins in Santa Marta, moving to the village of Mamey for a light lunch. Following this, we start a three-hour hike (8 kilometres or 5.5 miles) in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, reaching cabaña de Adán for dinner and overnight rest.
Day 2
After breakfast, we'll embark on a second hiking route of 14 kilometres (8.6 miles) lasting eight hours. This includes a visit to the indigenous village of Muntanyi to learn about their customs and traditions. We'll enjoy a traditional lunch and return to our route, ending the day at cabaña de Romualdo for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3
Post breakfast, we'll hike three hours (8 kilometres or 5.5 miles) to the Lost City, exploring archaeological remnants of the indigenous Tayrona people from 800 to 1600. After lunch, we’ll continue hiking through the Buritaca River area, concluding at cabaña de Gabriel for dinner and rest.
Day 4
We will begin a six-hour walk covering an average of 15 kilometres (9.3 miles) back to Mamey. Following lunch, we will drive to Santa Marta to conclude the tour.
5-day tour
Extend your adventure by adding a day. On the fourth day, we return to Adam's or Alfredo's hut by 12 pm for leisure time at the Quebrada de Honduras. A deliciousdinner will be served at 6 pm. On the fifth day, after a 7 am breakfast, we’ll embark on a 3-hour hike back to Mamey, arriving by 1 pm for lunch and returning to Santa Marta by 5 pm.
Meeting Point & Pickup Areas
Please arrive 20 minutes before the start at Carrera 1C no. 18-67 centro, next to the Park Hotel. Pick-ups available in Santa Marta downtown, Rodadero, Taganga, and Minca.
Meals
The tour includes lunches and dinners throughout, with light meals provided by the Archaeological Park staff. Breakfast consists of personal supplies; light foods are recommended. During hikes, water, fruit, and snacks are provided. Inform us of any food intolerances or special diets when booking.
Accommodation
Accommodation involves three nights in campsites within the Archaeological Park, including cabins with hammocks and mats for sleeping.
Important information
Good physical condition is essential for comfortable participation, as the walks average five hours daily.Individuals with heart and respiratory conditions should not participate.Vaccination against yellow fever is required prior to the tour.
