Taironaka Day Trip
The Taironaka Day Trip includes a hotel pickup early in the morning, followed by a 1-hour journey to the Don Diego River. A 15-minute walk will take participants to the Taironaka Archaeological Park to explore the remains of the ancient city of Tayrona.
Participants will walk along trails, examining the archaeological remains of the Tairona people. The tour will discuss the way of life of the Tairona Indigenous people from the 8th century as they explore stone paths, terraces, and staircases.
A visit to the museum will allow participants to see original pieces of pottery. Weather permitting, opportunities may arise to meet the Kogis, descendants of the Tairona. There will also be free time for swimming in the Don Diego River.
A typical lunch will be served in Taironaka Park, featuring churrasco (grilled beef), salad, and potatoes or rice with shrimp and tostones.
After lunch, the group will return to Santa Marta and participants will be dropped off at their accommodations.
