Tayrona Park Day Trip

Explore the jungle and visit dreamlike beaches on our Tayrona Park Day Trip. We'll leave Santa Marta behind and spend an unforgettable day touring one of Colombia's most important ecological reserves.

Day Trip Details

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Santa Marta early in the morning. After a 1.5-hour drive, we will arrive at Tayrona Park, situated between the Caribbean Sea and Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. We'll start with an introduction to nature conservation before exploring jungle trails.

The tour includes 4 hours of hiking alongside towering trees and observing the rich ecosystem, where we may encounter iguanas, howler monkeys, ocelots, anteaters, and solitary eagles. Next, we’ll visit the beaches of Cañaveral, Arrecifes, Arenilla, and La Piscina, concluding at the popular Cape San Juan del Guía.

There will be free time to enjoy local cuisine, followed by a visit to Cape San Juan's viewpoint for panoramic views. Afterwards, we will return to Santa Marta and drop you off at your accommodation 11 hours after pickup.

Walking Times

The tour includes a 16-km (9.9 mi) medium-hard difficulty hike lasting 4 hours: 2 hours walking, 2 hours going, and 2 hours returning.

Speedboat Trip

You can choose from three options for the speedboat between Cabo San Juan to Santa Marta Bay:

Tour with return trip by speedboat: return by speedboat from Cabo San Juan to Santa Marta Bay, saving a 2-hour walk. No hotel transfer is included.

Tour with outward and return speedboat: takes the speedboat both ways, which includes hotel transfer back to Santa Marta.

Schedules and Duration

Tour without speedboat transport (11 hours): pickup at 6:30 am.Tour with speedboat transport on return (10 hours): pickup at 6:30 am.Tour with round-trip speedboat transport (8 hours): pickup at 9 am.

Hotel Pickup

This tour includes pickup and drop-off at hotels in Bello Horizonte, Rodadero, and central Santa Marta. For accommodations near the airport, via Cienaga, or Taganga, a supplement of 20USD per person applies. The walking options begin at 6:30 am, and the speedboat-only option begins at 9:30 am.

Activity Requirements

Starting June 16, 2025, a yellow fever vaccination card will be required at Colombia's National Parks.
