Tayrona Park Day Trip

Explore the jungle and visit dreamlike beaches on our Tayrona Park Day Trip. We'll depart from Santa Marta and spend a day touring one of Colombia's most important ecological reserves.

Day Trip Details

After picking you up from your hotel in Santa Marta early in the morning, we will drive northeast for 1.5 hours to Tayrona Park. Here, we will begin with an introduction to nature conservation before exploring the jungle trails.

The hike will last 4 hours as we walk among trees that tower over 82 ft (25 m) and discover the park's ecosystem. Wildlife sightings may include iguanas, howler monkeys, ocelots, anteaters, and solitary eagles.

Following the hike, we will visit the Caribbean coastline and walk along the beaches of Cañaveral, Arrecifes, Arenilla, and La Piscina, before arriving at Cape San Juan del Guía, where you will have free time to sample local cuisine. We will conclude with a viewpoint overlooking the Colombian landscape before returning to Santa Marta.

Walking Times

The tour includes a 16-km (9.9 mi) medium-hard difficulty hike, taking a total of 4 hours: 2 hours walking, and the same for returning.

Speedboat Trip

Booking options include:
Tour with return speedboat: return by speedboat, saving a 2-hour walk, but does not include hotel transfer.Tour with round-trip speedboat: includes speedboat transport both ways and hotel transfer.

Schedules and Duration

Tour without speedboat: 11 hours total, pickup at 6:30 am.Tour with return speedboat: 10 hours total, pickup at 6:30 am.Tour with round-trip speedboat: 8 hours total, pickup at 9 am.

Hotel Pickup

Includes pickup at hotels in Bello Horizonte, Rodadero, and central Santa Marta. An extra fee of 20 USD per person applies for pickups in the airport area, Cienaga, or Taganga. Tours including walking start at 6:30 am; the speedboat-only option starts at 9:30 am.

Activity Requirements

From June 16, 2025, a yellow fever vaccination card will be required at Colombia's National Parks.
