Explore the jungle and visit dreamlike beaches on our Tayrona Park Day Trip. We'll leave Santa Marta behind and spend an unforgettable day touring one of Colombia's most important ecological reserves.

Day Trip Details

We'll pick you up from your hotel in Santa Marta early in the morning and drive northeast for 1.5 hours to Tayrona Park, situated between the Caribbean Sea and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

Upon arrival, there will be a brief introduction to nature conservation followed by a 4-hour exploration of jungle trails where you may see iguanas, howler monkeys, ocelots, anteaters, and solitary eagles.

Next, we will visit the beaches of Cañaveral, Arrecifes, Arenilla, and La Piscina before heading to Cape San Juan del Guía for free time to enjoy local gastronomy. Afterwards, we will visit the viewpoint for a panoramic view of the landscape before returning to Santa Marta, with drop-off 11 hours after pickup.

Walking Times

This tour includes a 16-km (9.9 mi) medium-hard difficulty hike taking 4 hours to complete: 2 hours going and 2 hours returning.

Speedboat Trip

When booking, you can select from three options regarding the speedboat between Cabo San Juan to Santa Marta Bay:

Tour with return trip by speedboat: Returns by boat from Cabo San Juan to Santa Maria Bay, providing more time at the beach until 4 pm. No hotel transfer included.Tour with outward and return speedboat: Takes the speedboat both ways and includes hotel transfer back.

Schedules and Duration

Tour without speedboat transport: 11-hour trip, pickup at 6:30 am.Tour with speedboat transport on return journey: 10-hour trip, pickup at 6:30 am.Tour with round-trip speedboat transport: 8-hour trip, pickup at 9 am.

Hotel Pickup

Pickup and drop-off at hotels in Bello Horizonte, Rodadero, and central Santa Marta. A supplement of 20USD per person applies for airport area, Cienaga, or Taganga accommodations. Options involving walking depart at 6:30 am, while the speedboat-only option starts at 9:30 am.

Activity Requirements

Presentation of a yellow fever vaccination card is compulsory at Colombia's National Parks.
