Arapiuns River 5-Day Expedition

Day 1

Our adventure begins at 9 am with a pickup from the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão, followed by a boat ride to uncover the wonders of the Arapiuns River. Along the way, we will pass by Piranhas Lake and navigate through Ponta do Cururu, reaching the Indigenous community of Urucurea.

Upon arrival, we will immerse ourselves in their daily lives. Feel free to witness a traditional crafts exhibition. You will also have the option to either go hiking or join a canoeing excursion along the beaches. Later, enjoy a homemade lunch in a local household.

As evening approaches, unwind in a hammock while the sounds of nature surround you. We will then sail to Ponta do Toronó and Grande Lake, where we will marvel at a breathtaking sunset.

Day 2

Awakening to a new day, spend the morning snorkelling, capturing photos, and relaxing in this enchanting location. Following this, we will board our boat and glide along the left bank of the Arapiuns River to reach the Coroca community.

Upon arrival, we will discover the community's initiatives in ecotourism and conservation, including programs for turtle breeding and beekeeping. Lunch will be enjoyed with the locals before we continue towards Aruã, making brief stops at the communities of São Pedro and São José along the way. We'll then camp on Mount Sião, where you can fall asleep beneath a starlit sky.

Day 3

On our third day, we will journey by boat to the Aruã Waterfall, soaking in the natural beauty of the Arapiuns River and its surrounding vegetation.

Once we arrive at the tranquil waterfall, we will have the day to explore pathways and sample local cuisine. For the adventurous, there is an opportunity to leap into the waterfall from a height. Our night will be spent around a campfire close to the waterfall.

Day 4

Departing from Aruã, we will head to Ponta do Papagaio Beach for a delightful lunch. Rejuvenated, we will progress to the São Francisco community for a refreshing swim.

Afterwards, we'll embark on a boat ride to Ponta Grande, nestled among stunning dunes, where we can witness one of the most breathtaking sunsets in the Brazilian Amazon. During our stay at this paradise, we’ll create a bonfire, cook some fish, and share stories about our journey. At day’s end, choose between camping on the beach or sleeping on the boat.

Day 5

Our time together has flown by! On the final day, the morning is yours to explore at your leisure. After lunch, we’ll make our way to Punta de Icuxi, known for its New Year's Eve festivities. Here, you will savor a dish that highlights the delicious local cuisine.

Subsequently, we will depart from the Arapiuns River and traverse the Tapajós River, gazing at a stunning sunset at Ponta do Cururu before returning to Alter do Chão, with an estimated drop-off at around 7 pm.

Accommodation

This expedition includes 4 nights of lodging aboard our boat, complete with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Depending on the chosen vessel, the capacity can accommodate 20 or 70 people. Cabins feature either double or single beds, subject to availability.

Onboard, you'll find equipment for kayaking and paddle surfing. The vessel is equipped with a barbecue area and sound system, divided into four distinct sections for your enjoyment.
