Arapiuns River 5-Day Tour

Day 1

At 9 am, we'll pick you up from the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão to start exploring the Arapiuns River. During the boat trip, we'll pass Piranhas Lake and visit Urucurea's Indigenous community. There, you’ll learn about their lifestyle and may watch a traditional crafts demonstration. You can choose between hiking or a canoe tour of the beaches. Lunch will be hosted at a local's house, followed by a relaxing afternoon in a hammock and an evening sunset at Ponta do Toronó and the Grande Lake.

Day 2

In the morning, you can enjoy snorkelling, photography, and relaxing. Next, we will sail along the left bank of the Arapiuns River to Coroca community, where we’ll learn about ecotourism, turtle breeding, and beekeeping. After lunch with locals, we’ll travel to Aruã with brief stops at São Pedro and São José communities, then camp on Mount Sião for the night.

Day 3

We’ll travel to Aruã Waterfall, exploring its trails and local cuisine. Those adventurous can jump into the waterfall. We will camp near the waterfall for the night.

Day 4

After leaving Aruã, we head to Ponta do Papagaio Beach for lunch and then to São Francisco community for swimming. Next, we’ll reach Ponta Grande for sunset and enjoy a bonfire to cook fish. You can choose to camp on the beach or sleep on the boat.

Day 5

On the final day, the morning is yours to explore. At noon, we’ll go to Punta de Icuxi, known for New Year's Eve celebrations, followed by a meal showcasing local cuisine. We’ll cross the Tapajós River for a sunset at Ponta do Cururu before returning to Alter do Chão by around 7 pm.

Accommodation

This tour includes 4 nights' accommodation on the boat with meals provided. The boat capacity is 20 or 70 people, depending on the option chosen. Cabins offer double or single beds based on availability. Kayaking and paddle surfing equipment will be available, along with a barbecue and music on the boat, which features four areas.
