Arapiuns River Communities Tour

The adventure begins at 9 am at the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão, where we will depart northbound on a boat to the Arapiuns River. Along the way, we will pass by Ponta do Cururu, Pirañas Lake, and the Tapajós River. Our first stop will be the village of Urucurea, where we will observe the local Indigenous communities and their picturesque church. Interactions with local wildlife such as monkeys and toucans are possible. We will visit a typical house to see artwork created by local women.

Participants can stroll independently or watch a crafts demonstration. Afterward, options include a hiking route along the creek, a wooden canoe ride, or a visit to the Amazonian beaches. Lunch features fresh fish, wild chicken, and other local dishes, followed by relaxation in a hammock. We will also explore Ponta do Torono and Lago Grande to observe local birds and vegetation.

We will return to Alter do Chão around 7 pm.

2-day tour

On the 2-day tour, we will visit Torono and Ponta Grande Beach for a sunset, enjoy a bonfire on the beach to grill fish, and spend the night in nature. The next day, we will visit the community of Coroca to learn about tropical turtles, bees, handicrafts, and ecotourism. Lunch includes fish and chicken, followed by a visit to Ucuxi Beach and another sunset at Ponta do Cururu.

Accommodation

The 2-day tour includes 1 night’s accommodation on the boat in double cabins with a private bathroom. Alternatively, an overnight stay in a cabin in the Vista Alegre community is available, but is not included in the tour price.
