Venture into the Brazilian rainforest and discover the animals that live there on our 1 or 2-day Tapajós National Forest Tour. You'll immerse yourself in a natural environment and explore lakes and beaches.

Tapajós National Forest Tour

We will meet at 9 am at the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão and board our boat to explore the Tapajós National Forest. Our first stops include Jacundá and Mureta Lakes for photos, followed by a pause at Pindobal Beach to discuss the history of rubber in the Amazon. We will then visit the beaches of Cajutuba for swimming and the dunes of Maguari.

Next, we will head to Jamaraquá to spot sloths, alligators, and ancient trees. In this area, there will be fruits like pineapple, watermelon, and passion fruit. Afterwards, we will engage with local communities to learn about Indigenous artwork. There is an option to hike to see the Samauma tree.

A lunch of fish and chicken will be provided. After lunch, you can relax in a hammock and enjoy a sunset canoe ride before returning to Alter do Chão by 7 pm.

2-day tour

This tour includes camping in the Amazon after watching the sunset. Participants will enjoy a traditional piracaia dish around a campfire and can choose to sleep under the stars, on the boat, or in a typical hut.

The following day will feature a lunch and a last swim at Pindobal Beach before returning to Alter do Chão.

Accommodation

The 2-day tour includes 1 night's accommodation on the boat in double cabins with private bathrooms. Alternatively, you can stay in a cabin in the Vista Alegre community, though this option is not included in the tour price.
