Tour of Tapajós River Communities

Our adventure begins at 9 am at the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão. Here, we will board a boat and navigate the Tapajós River, making our way to the Anuma river community.

Upon arrival, we will transfer to a tractor that will take us to the Active Forestry Experimental Centre. This visit promises insightful observations where we will learn about their efforts in animal breeding and how they implement biological fertilizers and rainwater in their organic farming practices.

Feeling hungry? Around 1 pm, we will enjoy a lunch featuring fresh fish or chicken. After our meal, it's time to unwind in a hammock, taking in the breathtaking vistas of the Brazilian Amazon.

After some relaxation, we'll set off for a hike towards the hydroelectric dam, where you'll have the option to take a refreshing swim upon arrival.

As our day comes to a close, we will bid farewell to the Anuma community and start our journey back to Alter do Chão, reaching our destination by 7 pm.

2-day Tour Option

For an extended experience, consider joining the 2-day tour. After visiting Anuma, we will proceed to the Vista Alegre community, with the choice of either a 6-mile (10-kilometer) hike or a scenic boat trip through the mangroves.

Upon arrival, expect a warm welcome from the locals, who will share their cultural practices. Enjoy a delicious dinner and partake in a fire ritual that highlights their traditions.

Good morning! After breakfast, we'll embark on a hiking journey to explore the stunning natural surroundings. A delightful lunch featuring local cuisine awaits, followed by opportunities to converse with the riverside community members. Before concluding our tour, we'll witness an exquisite sunset at Muretá Beach.

About the Boat

You will travel on a well-appointed boat that features four distinct areas. Onboard, you'll find kayaking and paddle surfing equipment, barbecuing facilities, and music to enhance your experience.

Accommodation Details

Should you choose the 2-day boat tour, the package includes one night’s accommodation on the boat, provided in double cabins that come equipped with private bathrooms. Alternatively, there’s an option to spend the night in a cabin located within the Vista Alegre community, although this choice entails an additional cost not covered by the tour price.
