Tapajós River Communities Tour

At 9 am, we will meet at the Tourist Information Centre in Alter do Chão, then board our boat and sail to the Anuma river community. Upon arrival, we'll take a tractor to the Active Forestry Experimental Centre to learn about animal breeding and the use of biological fertilizers and rainwater for organic farming.

At 1 pm, we will have lunch with options of chicken or fresh fish. Afterward, relax in a hammock while enjoying views of the Brazilian Amazon. We will hike to the hydroelectric dam, where you can take a dip before we say our goodbyes to the Anuma community and return to Alter do Chão, arriving at 7 pm.

2-day Tour

For the 2-day tour, we will proceed to the Vista Alegre community after leaving Anuma. You can choose to reach it via a 6-mile (10-kilometer) trail or a boat trip through the mangroves. Locals will welcome us and share their customs, followed by dinner and a fire ritual.

The next day, we will have breakfast and hike to explore the surroundings, have a typical lunch, and converse with community members. Before returning to Alter do Chão, we will watch the sunset at Muretá Beach.

What's the boat like?

The boat has four different spaces, and includes equipment for kayaking and paddle surfing, along with a barbecue and music on board.

Accommodation

The 2-day boat tour includes 1 night's accommodation in double cabins with a private bathroom. Alternatively, you can choose to stay in a cabin in the Vista Alegre community; this option is not included in the tour price.
