Excursión a La Coruña y Betanzos

Experience the breathtaking landscapes and rich culture of Galicia's Atlantic coastline on this journey exploring A Coruña and the Costa da Morte.

A Coruña & Betanzos Trip

Beginning at 9:30 am, we will set off from the Capilla del Pilar located in Santiago de Compostela. After a scenic 60-minute ride, our first stop will be the vibrant city of A Coruña. Here, we will first visit the renowned Tower of Hercules, recognized as the world's oldest Roman lighthouse.

Following our exploration of the Tower, we will embark on a walking tour through the historic center of A Coruña. This part of our journey will lead us to the central Plaza de María Pita where we will admire significant sites such as the Church of San Jorge, the Church of Santiago, the Mirador, the San Carlos Gardens, and the stunning Riazor Beach.

After an interval of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes for lunch, we will depart from A Coruña and head towards Betanzos. This charming medieval town was once one of the seven capitals of the old Kingdom of Galicia. You'll soon discover why the historic town center has been designated as a Historic-Artistic Site.

During our guided exploration of Betanzos, we will visit notable landmarks such as the Church of Santa María del Azogue, the Church of Santiago, and the temple of San Francisco. At each site, we will take a moment to appreciate their artistic and historical significance. Additionally, a tasting of the award-winning local omelette will be offered, showcasing a true taste of the region.

Our tour will conclude with our return to Santiago de Compostela, expected by 6:30 pm.

Tower of Hercules

This itinerary includes access to the Tower of Hercules. However, please be aware that due to renovation work until June 30, 2026, entry into the tower itself is not permitted, and the visit will be limited to its exterior.
