Vigo & Baiona Day Trip
The excursion begins at the Praza da Galicia in Santiago de Compostela. We will travel south towards Vigo, the biggest city in Galicia. Our first stop is the Casco Vello, the oldest part of the city, where we will visit the Praza de Constitución Square and admire its historic buildings and small terraces.
We will continue to the Santa María de Vigo Co-cathedral, a neoclassical church from the 19th century, and then to A Pedra Market to experience the flavors of Galicia. Our next destination is Monte del Castro for photo opportunities and exploration of the Castelo do Castro.
We will then walk through cobblestone streets to Porta do Sol, home to the famous Siren sculpture. Afterward, we will stroll down Rúa Príncipe, providing free time to grab a bite.
Next, we travel to Baiona via Rúa del Conde to visit the Colegiata de Santa María, a gothic church from the 18th century, and the historic Capilla de la Misericordia.
We will visit the Baiona Parador, a medieval fortress that houses a prominent hotel, and walk along the promenade to see the giant Virgen de la Roca statue while learning about the Discovery of America.
Lastly, you will have free time to explore Baiona. The tour concludes after approximately 11 hours back at the meeting point in Santiago.
