Machu Picchu 2-Day Adventure
Day 1: Cusco – Hydroelectrical Plant – Machu Picchu Village
Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Cusco between 6:00 and 6:30 am. We will travel by minibus to Ollantaytambo, enjoying sweeping views of the Sacred Valley of the Incas along the way.
We’ll pause briefly for breakfast before venturing onto the Abra Malaga route. Ascending to an altitude of 4319 meters (14,160 feet), you'll be treated to some of the most stunning panoramas of the Peruvian landscape.
After taking in these incredible vistas, our descent through lush jungles leads us to Santa Maria, located at 1250 meters (4101 feet) above sea level. Following a rejuvenating snack break, we will reach Santa Teresa, the entrance to the Hydroelectrical Plant. Here, we will enjoy a meal at a local eatery. Energized and ready, we’ll embark on a 3-hour hike towards the entrance of the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu.
Eagerly, we'll have dinner and rest for the night in a cozy local lodge.
Day 2: Machu Picchu – Cusco
Awakening early on the second day, we’ll savor breakfast before commencing our climb to the renowned citadel of Machu Picchu at 5 am. A trek lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes awaits, rewarded by an unforgettable sunrise that’s perfect for capturing beautiful photographs!
Upon arrival, a 2-hour guided exploration of the enchanting Inca city will unfold. As we navigate the narrow paths and alleys, you’ll discover why it is hailed as an architectural marvel.
At 10:30 am, our adventure continues as we begin our descent back to Aguas Calientes. Should you wish, a bus is available for the return trip.
From Aguas Calientes, you have the option to return by bus or trek back via the Abra Malaga pass to Hidroeléctrica. Our journey concludes with a minibus ride back to Cusco, arriving near Plaza de Armas around 9:30 pm.
