Machu Picchu & Huayna Picchu

Explore the historic Inca citadel of Machu Picchu and hike up Huayna Picchu Mountain on this day trip from Cusco.

Tour Details

Pickup from your hotel in Cusco will occur between 4 and 4:30 am. We will travel to Ollantaytambo and take a train to Aguas Calientes, enjoying the landscapes of the Peruvian Andes during the hour-and-a-half journey.

Upon arrival at around 7:40 am, we will take a bus to the entrance of Machu Picchu. You will have 4 hours to hike Huayna Picchu, reaching its peak at 2,500 meters, and enjoy the views.

After the hike, a 3-hour guided tour of the lower section of the archaeological site will provide insights into the history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Following the tour, we will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where you will have almost five hours of free time to explore the town.

Later, we will return to Ollantaytambo by train and conclude the 19-hour tour back in Cusco at your hotel.

Hotel Pickup

Pickup will occur between 4 and 4:30 am from hotels in the historic center of Cusco or the entrance of the Cathedral in the Plaza de Armas if your hotel is not centrally located.

Stations & Duration

Trains may depart from Poroy station (30 minutes from Cusco) or Ollantaytambo station (1 hour and 30 minutes from Cusco), contingent on availability. The Poroy station is closed during the rainy season (December to March), requiring a bus trip to Ollantaytambo. The travel time between Poroy and Aguas Calientes is about 4 hours, while it is 1 hour and 30 minutes from Ollantaytambo.

Cancellations due to strikes or adverse weather will allow for rescheduling, or a full refund minus the entrance fee to Machu Picchu (200 PEN approx), which is non-refundable.
