Travel through time to the revolution of Túpac Amaru II and an elegant stately home on this day trip to Raqchi, Tinta and San Lorenzo de Valleumbroso Estate.
Day Trip Details
We’ll pick you up at your hotel at the indicated time to begin a full-day excursion through cultural and historical sites in the Cusco region: Raqchi, Tinta, and the San Lorenzo de Valleumbroso Hacienda.
Our first stop will be San Pedro de Cacha, where we’ll visit the archaeological site of Raqchi, once the capital of the Kanchis nation. We’ll explore the Temple of Wiracocha, colcas, and royal tambos.
Next, we’ll head to the town of Tinta, known for its role in Peru’s fight for independence, particularly the uprising led by Tupac Amaru II. We'll visit his house-museum and significant landmarks of the revolution.
In Tinta, we’ll also see the 17th-century church with a golden altar and colonials artworks by masters such as Diego de la Puente and Francisco Serrano. You’ll have time for lunch at a local restaurant.
We’ll then visit the colonial bridge of Tinta, built in 1740, before proceeding to the Hacienda of San Lorenzo de Valleumbroso.
This colonial mansion, built atop Inca foundations, once belonged to the Spanish explorer Rodrigo de Esquivel. We’ll explore the estate’s arcaded patios, halls, and open courtyards, with views of the Cusco Valley. The hacienda is a Cultural Heritage Site of Peru and is undergoing restoration.
After this immersive day, we’ll return to your hotel, arriving 10 hours later.
