Waqrapukara Trip

Built by the pre-Colombian Qanchi tribe, and later conquered by the Incas, the ancient Andean city of Waqrapukara is one of Peru's archaeological treasures.

The trip starts with hotel pick-up in Cusco between 3 and 4 am, followed by a journey south to Cusipata, located two hours away. A breakfast will be provided there before continuing the trip.

Travelers will experience scenic landscapes, villages, and turquoise lakes, arriving at Pitumarca village after two hours. An eight-kilometre hike leads to the archaeological site of Waqrapukara.

The visit includes the ancient city of the pre-Colombian Qanchi civilization, featuring the Inti Punku archaeological site, known as the 'Sun Gate,' which is significant in relation to Machu Picchu. The site includes a main square and turrets.

After exploring Waqrapukara, the group will return to Cusipata for a Peruvian buffet lunch. The trip concludes with a return to Cusco, expected around 6 pm.
