Waqrapukara Trip

Built by the pre-Colombian Qanchi tribe and later conquered by the Incas, the ancient Andean city of Waqrapukara is one of Peru's archaeological treasures.

Waqrapukara Trip

We will collect you from your hotel in Cusco between 3 and 4 am and head south into the Andes, stopping at Cusipata two hours later for breakfast. Following this, we continue through picturesque landscapes and turquoise lakes, arriving at Pitumarca. From here, we begin an eight-kilometre hike to the archaeological site of Waqrapukara.

This trip includes a visit to the ancient city of the pre-Colombian Qanchi civilization, featuring the archaeological site of Inti Punku, an ancient fortress related to Machu Picchu. Inti Punku means 'Sun Gate' and is significant for its main square and turrets.

After exploring Waqrapukara, we will return to Cusipata for a Peruvian buffet lunch. Finally, we will return to the departure point in Cusco, arriving around 6 pm.
