Built by the pre-Colombian Qanchi tribe and later conquered by the Incas, the ancient Andean city of Waqrapukara is one of Peru's archaeological treasures.
Waqrapukara Trip
The trip begins with hotel pickup in Cusco between 3 and 4 am, followed by a journey south into the Andes, stopping at Cusipata two hours later for breakfast. After breakfast, the bus ride continues through picturesque landscapes and turquoise lakes, leading to Pitumarca village. An eight-kilometre hike then takes you to the archaeological site of Waqrapukara.
Participants will explore the ancient city of the Qanchi civilization and visit the Inti Punku site, an ancient fortress linked to Machu Picchu. The site, meaning 'Sun Gate,' features important archaeological remains, including its main square and turrets.
After touring Waqrapukara, the group returns to Cusipata for a Peruvian buffet lunch. The trip concludes with a return to Cusco, arriving around 6 pm.
