Built by the pre-Colombian Qanchi tribe and later conquered by the Incas, the ancient Andean city of Waqrapukara is one of Peru's archaeological treasures.

Waqrapukara Trip

Collection from your hotel in Cusco will occur between 3 and 4 am. We will travel south into the Andes, with a stop at Cusipata, two hours from Cusco, for breakfast before continuing.

The journey will feature stunning landscapes, villages, and turquoise lakes. After two hours, we will reach Pitumarca village, where we will commence an eight-kilometre hike to the archaeological site of Waqrapukara.

At this site, you will explore the ancient city of the pre-Colombian Qanchi civilization, including the Inti Punku archaeological site, an essential fortress for Machu Picchu. This site, meaning 'Sun Gate', is one of the key remains near the famous Inca city, featuring the main square and turrets.

Following our visit to Waqrapukara, we will return to Cusipata for a Peruvian buffet lunch. The trip will conclude with our return to Cusco, arriving around 6 pm.
