Since its opening in 1977, the Santillana del Mar Zoo has become a significant attraction in this Cantabrian town, particularly for families. It features a diverse range of animals and focuses on the preservation of endangered species. Visitors can explore animal life from five continents, including an exhibit in Quaternary Park that showcases species from the time of the Altamira man.

During the visit, you can see over 20 species, including primates, tigers, lions, panthers, butterflies, flamingos, pelicans, bats, and many domestic animals like sheep, chickens, donkeys, and ponies in the zoo farm.

The average visit lasts two and a half hours, but you are welcome to stay as long as you like during opening hours. Food is available at the cafeteria and picnic areas.
