Tour Details

At your chosen time, meet at Museo de las Casas Reales to begin a guided tour of the Ciudad Colonial neighborhood in Santo Domingo. The first stop will be the Cathedral of the First Church in the Americas, also known as Basílica Menor de Santa María de la Encarnación. After viewing this great temple, visit the Ozama Fortress, the oldest European bastion on the continent.

The tour continues along Las Damas Street, where stops include the House of Rodrigo Bastidas, the residences of Nicolás de Ovando and Dávila, which are traces of the colonial era. Next, pass by the National Pantheon and Plaza de España, home to the Alcazar de Colón, and see the ruins of the San Nicolás de Bari Hospital, built in the 16th century.

Then visit the Casa del Cordón with its unique facade and the Our Lady of Altagracia church. The tour concludes with a cocktail or juice at the Museum of Rum, where you will learn about Dominican liquor tradition before ending your exploration of Santo Domingo's past.
