On this day trip to Lake Enriquillo, we’ll explore one of the largest natural springs in the Caribbean. Experience the area’s unique endemic flora and, with some luck, spot caimans and iguanas.

Day Trip Details

At the scheduled time, we’ll meet at the selected meeting point and head west to visit the famous Lake Enriquillo, the largest lake in the Dominican Republic.

During the transfer, we’ll enjoy breakfast before arriving at an area featuring indigenous houses. From there, we’ll continue the journey to Lake Enriquillo, where we’ll take a boat ride around Cabritos Island, situated 43 m (141 ft) below sea level. The lake’s name originates from a noble who rebelled against Spanish colonial rule, and it holds the title of the largest lake in the Antilles. We’ll provide insights about its history!

Afterward, we’ll proceed to the Las Caritas open-air museum, where we’ll discover a series of rock formations adorned with Taíno paintings. Large caves and perforated stones will greet us, offering panoramic views of Lake Enriquillo. Be sure to have your cameras ready!

Next, we’ll head to the province of Neyba to visit a local spot known as Comedor Ángela, where we’ll learn about the region’s wine production. The highlight will be tasting the wine and discovering why it is among the most renowned in the Dominican Republic. A local lunch will also be served.

Our final stop will be at the Las Marías bathing area, providing a perfect ending to the day as we enjoy the surroundings and take a swim in its warm waters.

We’ll conclude the activity by dropping you off at the starting point after approximately 14 hours.
