Santo Domingo Beyond the Walls Tour

On this tour of Santo Domingo, we'll explore areas beyond the walls of the Colonial City, including Santa Bárbara, the Modelo Market, the Malecón, and Chinatown.

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll meet next to the Museum of the Royal Houses to begin our tour of Santo Domingo. We will start by heading north along the walled city, recounting the history of slavery in the country and visiting La Negrera, the entrance point for slaves.

Next, we will walk through the neighbourhood of Santa Bárbara, known for its graffiti and historic landmarks, including the Castrense Cathedral. We will then proceed to the Santa Bárbara Fort for views of the city.

Our next stop will be Chinatown, where we will explore the Chinese community and its local product stalls. Following this, we will visit the Modelo Market to see the artisan goods available.

Lastly, we will walk along the Santo Domingo promenade to view the male and female obelisks. We will conclude the tour and return to the starting point after 2 hours together.
