Santo Domingo Beyond the Walls Tour

On this tour of Santo Domingo, we'll make our way to the area beyond the walls of the Colonial City to visit Santa Bárbara, the Modelo Market, the Malecón, and Chinatown.

Description

At the scheduled time, we'll meet next to the Museum of the Royal Houses and begin this tour of Santo Domingo which will explore the area around the walls of the Dominican capital.

We'll start by heading north along the walled city to discuss the history of slavery in the country, visiting La Negrera, where enslaved individuals were sold and distributed.

Next, we'll explore the neighbourhood of Santa Bárbara, known for its graffiti and historic monuments, including the Castrense Cathedral and the Santa Bárbara Fort, where we can take pictures with incredible city views.

Our following stop will be Chinatown, where we will learn about the local Chinese community while walking through streets lined with stalls with local products.

We will also visit the Modelo Market, offering a variety of artisan goods. Finally, we'll reach the Santo Domingo promenade to see the male and female obelisks.

We'll conclude this 2-hour tour by returning to the starting point.
