Colours, jewellery, tobacco… all to come on this shopping tour around the markets in Santo Domingo. We'll also visit the Amber Museum and a Tobacco Factory.
Itinerary
We'll start the tour in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo. This route will be incredibly interesting, regardless of your shopping preferences.
Firstly, we'll visit the Amber Museum, founded in 1996, which details the history of amber found in caves on the island. In this gallery, you can admire precious pieces of stone in various colours, including yellow and blue.
If you like rum, our next stop will be a distillery, where we'll learn about its production process.
We will then head to a colonial market to discover traditional handmade goods such as colourful paintings, wooden sculptures, and musical instruments. We will also stop at souvenir shops and art galleries for gift shopping.
Next, we'll visit a Tobacco Factory to learn how cigars are made and about the importance of this industry in the Dominican Republic.
To conclude the morning, we'll explore the famous Dominican cocoa at a local store, before returning to the initial meeting point to finish this activity.
