Fort of San Carlos Tour + Boat Ride
At the scheduled time, we'll meet on Calle Juan de la Cosa to begin this guided tour of the Fort of San Carlos.
We will walk approximately 3 kilometers to reach the fort, discussing the significance of these defensive constructions in Santoña and sharing details about the geographical context of this Cantabrian town.
Upon arrival, we will explore inside the fort to understand its strategic position and its historical role in controlling access to the bay, particularly its importance in the 17th and 18th centuries for naval interests.
After the fort, we will embark on a one-hour boat ride to the Caballo Lighthouse, built in 1863, situated on a hill overlooking Santoña and the Bay of Biscay. This location offers excellent photo opportunities.
After two and a half hours, we will conclude the activity at the port of Santoña.
