Description
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in Recife to start this day trip to Olinda, where we'll also visit the Ricardo Brennand Institute.
Upon arrival in Olinda, founded by the Portuguese in 1535, our first stop will be the Convent of São Francisco, known for having the biggest collection of Portuguese tiles in the state.
Next, we'll visit Alto da Sé for panoramic views of the city, followed by a walking tour to see the Cathedral, Misericórdia Church, monastery of São Bento, Ribeira Market, Casa de Artesanatos, and the Bonecos de Olinda.
We will then drive to Carmo Church, the oldest Carmelite Order temple in Brazil, before returning to Alto da Sé for lunch.
After lunch, we will head to the Ricardo Brennand Institute, a complex featuring the São João Castle-Museum, an art gallery, an auditorium, the Sculpture Garden, the Chapel of Nossa Senhora das Graças, and a restaurant. This museum has the world's largest collection of the Dutch artist Frans Post and over 3,000 bladed weapons, including 27 complete medieval suits of armour.
After a 2-hour visit to the institute, we will return to Recife, with arrival at your hotel scheduled for 7.5 hours after pickup.
