If you find yourself in São Luís, consider embarking on this excursion to Alcântara, where you can explore a city steeped in history. Together, we’ll sail across the Baía de São Marcos and step back into the past!

Excursion Overview

We will convene at Cais da Praia Grande in São Luís at the scheduled time. From this meeting point, our excursion to Alcântara will commence, providing insights into the rich history of this remarkable city.

We will first head to the port, where a speedboat will be ready to whisk us away. Over the course of 1 to 1.5 hours, we will navigate the waters of Baía de São Marcos, enjoying stunning panoramic vistas with Alcântara on one side and São Luís on the other.

Upon arrival, we will disembark and begin a guided exploration of Alcântara, starting at the port. Our journey will take us along Rua Ladeira do Jacaré, a thoroughfare connecting the port to the city center, where we can admire the charming small houses typical of the region.

Our next stop will be Casa do Divino, known for its façade adorned with Portuguese tiles. This location holds significance as it hosts the annual Empire of the Feast of the Divine Holy Spirit, which is one of the notable religious festivities celebrated here. We’ll discuss its importance in the local culture.

Among the many significant landmarks we’ll visit is the Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Rosário dos Pretos and the surrounding Pelourinho area. Additionally, there will be opportunities to explore various intriguing museums that offer insights into the lives of Alcântara’s residents.

After our tour, you will have free time for lunch, allowing you the chance to savor some exquisite local dishes that are sure to delight your palate.

When lunch concludes, we will return you to São Luís, wrapping up our journey approximately six hours after our initial departure.
