Day Trip to Aparecida

On this day trip to Aparecida from Sao Paulo, you'll explore the city renowned for the Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida, one of the largest basilicas globally.

Description

We will depart from Sao Paulo at the designated time, heading to Aparecida, located in the valley of the River Paraíba do Sul, a city that attracts thousands of pilgrims annually.

Our first stop will be at Porto do Itaguaçú, where the image of Our Lady of Aparecida was discovered in the 18th century. Here, we can visit the small chapel dedicated to the virgin, located by the river.

Next, we will head to the city’s historical center to visit the Old Basilica of Aparecida. You will have 40 minutes of free time to explore or shop. Following this, we will cross the Passarela da Fé, a 35-meter high walkway connecting the Old Basilica to the National Shrine. The 389-meter-long walkway has become a tourist attraction, frequented by devotees.

It takes around 20 minutes to cross, after which you can explore the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida. A notable feature is the Sala das Promessas.

You will have free time for lunch and city exploration, with options including the cable car, Tower Museum, or Monte das Oliveiras. We will then return to the original meeting point in Sao Paulo.

This trip includes hotel pickup from hotels within a 4-mile (6-km) radius of Praça da Sé. If your accommodation is outside this area, pickup will be from the meeting point at 2355 Avenida Paulista.
