Sao Paulo Jewish History Private Tour
We'll meet at your hotel at your chosen time to start this tour of Sao Paulo and its Jewish culture, exploring the legacy of the Jewish community, which arrived in Brazil over 400 years ago. Our first stop will be the Bom Retiro neighbourhood, where the Jews established their first settlement. Here, we'll take a panoramic tour and visit the Kehilat Israel Synagogue, the oldest synagogue in Sao Paulo, noted for its map of Israel and religious symbols on its outer wall.
Inside, the Jewish Immigration Memorial features various objects, photos, and documents about Jewish culture. Next, we'll head to Higienópolis, the center of the Paulista Jewish community since the 1920s, where 11 synagogues, kosher restaurants, and schools have been built. One of our last stops will be at the Unibes cultural centre, designed by architect Roberto Loeb, inspired by a Hebrew religious symbol.
To conclude this tour of Sao Paulo's Jewish history, we'll visit the Jewish Museum, the largest institution dedicated to Jewish history in Brazil, covering the importance of this religion for Brazilians and the different waves of Jewish migration. After 5 hours exploring, we'll drop you off at your hotel.
