This guided walking tour of Sarajevo is an opportunity to explore the political, financial, social, and cultural centre of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Sarajevo Walking Tour

We will meet at Zelenih Beretki 30 at the specified time and commence our guided walking tour through the old town of Sarajevo, a capital with a rich history and a symbol of the Balkan War from the 1990s.

During the tour, we will explore the city’s history as an Ottoman stronghold in the 15th century and discuss its significance during the First World War, specifically the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria.

We will visit Mejdan Park near the Miljacka River, observing the architecture of various religious buildings, including the Emperor's Mosque, churches, and the ancient Jewish Temple, identifying why Sarajevo is called the “Jerusalem of Europe”.

The tour will also include the oldest brewery of the Ottoman Empire, characteristic inns, and streets known for traditional cuisine like Bravadžiluk and Kazandžiluk.

We'll pass iconic houses such as the Bicakcic-Hadzisabanovic and Spite, and observe the cemetery for the Bosnian defenders of the 1995 war along Kova?i Street.

Additionally, we'll visit Baš?aršija, the old bazaar, allowing time to browse stalls and visit the lively Markale market. After seeing landmarks like the Sebilg Fountain and Eternal Flame, the tour will conclude around 2 hours later at the meeting point.
