Tybee Island Day Trip & Dolphin Watching
On the Tybee Island Day Trip, we will explore key sights related to the American Civil War and participate in a dolphin watching activity.
We will meet at the Savannah Visitor Centre at the scheduled time, then board a bus to Tybee Island in Chatham County.
Upon arrival, we will take a scenic tour of historic sites from the American Civil War, including Fort Pulaski, notable for its innovative use of rifles which made coastal cannons obsolete.
We will also visit the Tybee Island Lighthouse and the Cockspur Island Lighthouse, the latter being of significant historical value during the battle of Fort Pulaski, remaining largely undamaged despite nearby combat.
After touring Tybee Island, we will stop at the Crab Shack for lunch, providing free time to enjoy the unique dining experience.
Post-lunch, we will board a boat to look for friendly bottlenose dolphins, observing their behaviors and the seabirds in the area.
Finally, we will return to land and take the minibus back to the meeting point in Savannah.
