Tybee Island Day Trip & Dolphin Watching
On our Tybee Island Day Trip, we will visit significant sites from the American Civil War and participate in a dolphin watching activity.
The trip begins at the Savannah Visitor Centre where we will board a bus to Tybee Island, located in Chatham County.
Upon arrival, we will conduct a scenic tour of historic sites, including Fort Pulaski, known for its role in a Civil War battle and for the innovative use of rifles that rendered coastal cannons ineffective.
We will also visit the Tybee Island Lighthouse and the Cockspur Island Lighthouse, the latter being historically significant due to its proximity to Fort Pulaski during the battle, remaining largely undamaged.
After the tour, we will stop at the Crab Shack for a lunch break, providing free time to enjoy the local cuisine in a unique atmosphere.
Post-lunch, we will embark on a boat excursion to observe bottlenose dolphins in their natural environment and admire the local seabirds.
Finally, we will return to the meeting point in Savannah via minibus.
