Tour Details
We'll meet at 11 am on St John Street ready to start our tour of the old town.
Our first stop will be at Stirling Castle, an important fortress in Scotland both historically and architecturally. Many Scottish kings and queens, including Mary Queen of Scots, lived within its walls.
We will also visit the Holy Rude Church, where King James VI, son of Mary Stuart, was crowned in 1567. Next, we'll wander over to the Stirling Cemetery to learn about more notable figures from the city's history.
We'll then move on to the Stirling Old Town Jail. In 1847, the Victorian old Tolbooth Jail became overcrowded and was deemed the worst prison in Britain. It was transformed into Stirling Old Town Jail, allowing visitors to learn about the conditions of imprisonment. We will explore various other significant sites in Stirling during the tour.
Finally, after one and a half hours of exploring, we'll conclude the tour.
