Private Tour of Shanghai's Jewish Quarter
We'll pick you up from your hotel and head to the Hongkou District, where Jewish refugees fleeing Europe made their new home in Shanghai.
As we stroll through this part of the city, we'll see the Ohel Moishe Synagogue and the Jewish Refugee Museum. From here, we'll walk past Huoshan Park to visit Shanghai's only Jewish community commemorative plaque. During the tour, we'll discuss the hardships faced by refugees and the solidarity from locals at the time.
Next, we'll head to Doulun Road, a pedestrian street featuring various historic buildings, museums, galleries, libraries, and cafes. This area showcases the cultural and artistic diversity of Shanghai. Many notable writers, artists, politicians, and revolutionaries have frequented this avenue.
We will pass by Lu Xun House, Museum of Modern Art Shanghai, and Duolun History Museum, which narrates the street's evolution from the 19th century to the present. Additionally, we will see the Kong Xiangxi Temple, originally built by a Chinese banker and politician.
After 3 hours of exploring the Jewish Quarter of Shanghai, we'll bring you back to your hotel.
