After World War II, thousands of refugees fled for safety, many ending up in Shanghai. Join us on this private tour of the Jewish Quarter to learn more!
Private Tour of Shanghai's Jewish Quarter
We'll pick you up from your hotel and head to the Hongkou District, the new home for many Jewish refugees fleeing Europe.
As we stroll through the city, we'll see the Ohel Moishe Synagogue, also home to the Jewish Refugee Museum. From here, we’ll walk past Huoshan Park to visit Shanghai's only Jewish community commemorative plaque. The tour will cover the hardships faced by the refugees and the local solidarity at that time.
Next, we'll visit Doulun Road, a pedestrian street with many historic buildings, museums, galleries, libraries, and cafes. This area highlights the cultural and artistic diversity of Shanghai, frequented by many notable writers, artists, politicians, and revolutionaries.
During the tour, we’ll see sites such as Lu Xun House, Museum of Modern Art Shanghai, and Duolun History Museum, which explains the street's evolution from the 19th century to the present. We will also pass by Kong Xiangxi Temple, originally built by a Chinese banker and politician.
After 3 hours exploring the Jewish Quarter of Shanghai, we'll return you to your hotel.
