After World War II, thousands of refugees fled for safety, and many ended up in Shanghai. Join us on this private tour of the Jewish Quarter to learn more!
Private Tour of Shanghai's Jewish Quarter
We'll pick you up from your hotel and head to the Hongkou District, where Jewish refugees established their new lives in Shanghai.
During the tour, we will visit the Ohel Moishe Synagogue and the Jewish Refugee Museum. We will walk past Huoshan Park to see Shanghai's only Jewish community commemorative plaque. Discussions will include the challenges faced by refugees and the local support they received.
Next, we will explore Doulun Road, a pedestrian street known for its historic buildings, museums, galleries, libraries, and cafes. This avenue has a rich history with many notable writers, artists, politicians, and revolutionaries having been associated with it.
Some sites we will see in Hongkou include Lu Xun House, Museum of Modern Art Shanghai, and Duolun History Museum, which highlights the street's transformation from the 19th century to the present. We will also pass by the Kong Xiangxi Temple, built by a Chinese banker and politician.
After 3 hours of exploring the Jewish Quarter of Shanghai, we will return you to your hotel.
