Mount Sinai and Saint Catherine's Monastery

Experience sunrise from the top of Mount Sinai, an important sacred site for Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, where you can view the oldest Christian Monastery still in operation.

Itinerary

At your preferred time, we'll pick you up in Sharm El Sheikh, heading into the center of the Sinai peninsula.

After approximately two and a half hours on a bus, we'll arrive at the mountainous region and begin our night ascent of Mount Sinai, climbing 750 steps to the summit. Witness the sunrise from the peak, where Moses is said to have received the 10 commandments.

After descending, we'll enjoy packed breakfasts from the hotel and then visit St. Catherine's Monastery, the oldest monastery in Christendom. This UNESCO World Heritage Site from the 6th century is surrounded by walls. Inside, we'll explore the Basilica of the Transfiguration and observe its significant artistic heritage.

The monastery houses a vast collection of codices, making it the second most important collection globally. Outside, we will see the burning bush where Moses reportedly encountered an angel.

Following our visit to St. Catherine's Monastery, we will return to Sharm El Sheikh, arriving approximately 15 hours after departure.

Important Information

Climbing Mount Sinai involves 750 stairs. We recommend bringing water and wearing comfortable shoes and clothing.St. Catherine Monastery is closed on Sundays; an interior visit will not be possible.Please request your hotel to prepare a packed breakfast, as it is not included in the excursion price.
